
South Africa, Chinese Taipei, Cuba, Kenya, Mexico, and Venezuela were the victorious nations on the last day of the Opening Round.
South Africa, Chinese Taipei, Cuba, Kenya, Mexico, and Venezuela all won their respective matches on the final day of the Opening Round of the WBSC Baseball5 World Cup, which took place at El Zocalo in Mexico City. The day was filled with excitement and drama as teams competed for spots in the Super Round.
South Africa defeated Lithuania in the opening game of the day, which was a close contest. South Africa won the first set 6-4, then lost the second match 10-2, but came back to win the decider 4-1. This was South Africa’s second win of the tournament.

The second match of the day was between Chinese Taipei and France, and it resulted in a resounding victory for Chinese Taipei. The Asian team finished the Super Round with a record of 4-1 after winning both of its matches by a score of 13-3 and 12-0, respectively.
Cuba finished the tournament with a perfect record
After defeating Japan in both of their Opening Round matches. The Caribbean squad achieved their sixth victory of the competition after taking the first match by a score of 2-0 and the second match by a score of 5-2.
After then, Kenya pulled off an incredible victory in a nail-biting match against Korea. The team that finished in second place at the African Championship won by scores of 1-0 and 3-1 to improve to 2-3 in win-loss records.
As the morning came to a close, Mexico and Hong Kong engaged in a fierce struggle to determine who would advance to the Super Round. The first game was won by Hong Kong by a score of 1-0, but the home team recovered the deficit by winning the second game by a score of 5-1 and the third game by the same score.
Venezuela kept their perfect record intact with a victory against Tunisia in the sole match that took place in the afternoon, but they didn’t have it all their own way throughout the match. The first match was won by Venezuela 8-6, and then they went on to win the second match 4-3 after coming back from being down 3-1 at the top of the fifth.
Six teams were able to clinch their position in the Super Round after three action-packed days of competition in the quest to become the very first Baseball5 World Champion. There is still a chance for Cuba, Japan, Mexico, Venezuela, Chinese Taipei, and Tunisia to compete in the last round of the World Championship.
Japan and Mexico finished in second and third place in Group A, respectively, behind Cuba, both with a 3-2 win-loss record (Japan’s win against Mexico puts them in second place). Cuba and Venezuela finished at the top of their respective groups unbeaten.
Chinese Taipei came in second place in Group B, followed by Tunisia, Kenya, and France, which all had a 2-3 win-loss record. The average number of runs scored per inning in the games played amongst the three teams served as their dividing line in accordance with the Tournament Rules.
The two-way tie between France and Kenya is broken in favor of Kenya since they were victorious in the game that was played between the two teams. Tunisia was able to go to the Super Round.
