On Sunday, the Indian men’s basketball team played Lebanon in the second round of Group E competition for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 Asian Qualifiers at the Pierre Gemayel Arena in Beirut. India was defeated by Lebanon by a score of 103-74.
With 16 points scored throughout the game, Muin Bek Hafeez was India’s most valuable player on the basketball court. The only other Indian basketball player to reach double digits in scoring was Palpreet Singh Brar, who finished with a total of 12 points.
Ali Haidar of Lebanon finished the game with the most points (27), which earned him the title of top scorer.
Prashant Singh Rawat and Muin Bek Hafeez both sank a three-point goal to help India get off to a strong start in the competition. As a result, the visitors jumped out to a lead of 10-6 in the early going of the contest.

However, Lebanon, which is ranked 43rd in the FIBA global rankings, started to get into the game after that moment, and they ended up dominating play against India, which is ranked 85th in the globe.
Because to the deadly combination of Haider and Jad Khalil on the offensive third of the court, the home team had a 27-20 lead at the end of the first quarter and then extended their lead to 49-36 just before halftime.

Lebanon, on the other hand, is now in first place in their group after winning seven of their eight matches and suffering only one defeat during that span.

In any of the 18 previous iterations of the FIBA Basketball World Cup, India has never been able to earn a spot in the tournament’s main draw.
