The midfielder, who is 27 years old, lends some expertise to an otherwise inexperienced team that is traveling to Qatar. Roldan has been a mainstay in the starting lineup for the Seattle Sounders ever since the club drafted him in 2015. He also earned his debut with the senior squad of the United States national team in the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
Roldan, who has two siblings who play in Major League Soccer, made the decision to play for the United States of America rather than for his parents’ native countries of Guatemala and El Salvador. While his younger brother Alex plays right back for the Sounders alongside Christian, his older brother Cesar works as a trainer for the LA Galaxy. On the other hand, Alex is a member of the El Salvador national squad.
Roldan underwent groin surgery in August, but after completing his rehabilitation, he was able to put himself in a position to compete in Qatar.
